Bio

The Artist

Elliott Jordan, an elementary school teacher and professional artist, is a native of Cartersville, Virginia.

Elliott Jordan's work have been displayed at Kentucky State University, The Waller Gallery, Lexington Council of Arts Gallery, and he participated in the Kentucky Commission of Arts Exhibit Black Kentucky Artists. In Cincinnati, Jordan's work have been shown at the W.C.E.T Gallery, the City Hall, and The Harriet Beecher Stowe House.

Jordan has taught for the Cincinnati Public Schools for several years. In 1971, he started his career as a freelance and portrait artist. He received his Bachelors of Art Degree at Murray State University and he received his Master of Arts Education from the University of Kentucky. In addition, Jordan has taught classes for the University of Kentucky and Transylvania University.

Jordan is noted for realistic portraits and figures in charcoal, pastel, and oil. His subject matter ranges from scenes of personal memories, african history, faith, and spirituality.

After visits to Ghana (West Africa) Jordan seeks to interpret African Art it's meaning and proverbial value to modern society. As a dealer in African art with many sources he will happily search for any piece or coordinate any message you wish to convey.
